Tracertrak Definitions & Abbreviations

Here are a few key definitions and abbreviations for Tracertrak

Administrator	A Console user role with unrestricted access to all components of the web application. This person assumes all financial and privacy obligations under the agreements established between Pivotel and the account holder.
Alarm	A defined event that breaches a specific Alarm Configuration. Examples include Geofence breach alarms, Device Input alarms and missing Broadcast alarms. Alarms can be configured to trigger an Alarm Alert and Alarm Alert Reminders.
Alarm Alert	An Alert sent in response to an Alarm. Also see Alert and Alarm.
Alarm Alert Reminder	An Alert sent during an Alarm at period intervals to remind one or more Users that a Device is still in an alarm condition.
Alarm Configuration	A number of settings defined by a user together with rules defined in the service used to determine the condition in which a device triggers an alarm.
Alarm Event	An instance of an Alarm initiated when a device breaches one of its Alarm Configurations. An Alarm Event that has not ended is considered an ‘active alarm event’.
Alert	An SMS, email or Tracertrak Console Message resulting from a system-initiated event. Users can not generate or send alerts. The following types exist: Alarm Alerts (including alarm alert reminders) System Alerts
Broadcast	A message sent from the device via a communications network to Tracertrak.
Calendar Month	The period from a day of one month to the corresponding day of the next month if such exists or if not to the last day of the next month eg. 4th April to 4th May, 31st October to 30th November
Company Locations	Configurable geographic locations, centred about a point, that are used for identifying important places on maps and for identifying device locations.
Console	The secure web application interface from which you can configure your Tracertrak account and map your organisation's devices.
CSV	Comma Separated Value - A delimited text file that uses a comma to separate values, often used to move tabular data between different computer programs.
Device	An object of interest to which a device type is associated and is configured in the Tracertrak Console.
Device Input	A connection on a device to which external equipment may be attached and monitored by way of the device reporting the input state to Tracertrak.
Device Paths	Device Paths are interconnecting lines between multiple locations of the same device displayed on a map to, indicate the approximate path that the device has traveled.
Device Type	The hardware in the field that transmits data to Tracertrak.
Geofence	A polygon that defines the boundary of a geographical area of interest on a map.
Groups	Devices are assigned to one or more groups to control who can view them and to organise the way those devices are listed in the Map and other display pages. Only people who have access to the group can see and manage the devices that belong to that group.
Journey	A collection of one or more Routes in series that a device is expected to travel.
KML	Keyhole Markup Language - An XML-based language schema for expressing geographic annotations and visualisations on two-dimensional mapping browsers. See Google Maps KML documentation
KMZ	A KMZ file consists of a main KML file and zero or more supporting files that are packaged using a Zip utility. See Google Maps KMZ documentation
OH&S Device	A device that primarily tracks people for the purpose of providing a way to communicate the person's status and raise SOS alarms.
OTA Configurable	Over-the-Air configuration allows configuration commands such as tracking interval to be sent to the device remotely and for those commands to take effect.
Person	A person who has been added to the Tracertrak account for the purpose of 'using' the Tracertrak Console and potentially being allocated a device. A Person's access to the Tracertrak Console is controlled through a username and password. People are assigned a Role: Administrator, Super User, Restricted, etc, which determines what level of functionality they have available to them in the Tracertrak Console interface. People are given access to Groups, limiting the device they can see and manage to the devices that belong to the groups they have access to.

Role	A configurable set of limitations that controls the amount of access that a user has to the Tracertrak Console functionality.
Route	A geospatial construct that includes two Company Locations between which a device may be travelling, and a geographical area, in which devices are expected to report from within when travelling between two Company Locations.
Report	A document that provides information about account Devices.
System Alert	An alert sent automatically by the Tracertrak Console in response to a condition. See Alert.
Thread	Unique grouping of 2-way messages for each set of associated device and worker (including unallocated).
1-way messaging (broadcast only)	The ability to broadcast messages from the device, but not receive messages.
2-way messaging (two-way capable)	The ability to both send and receive messages.
